'Avengers' Scores Second-Biggest Friday Opening of All Time!

Whoa! Everyone knew The Avengers was going to be a box-office smash, but the Marvel comic-based flick surpassed even the most optimistic of expectations! The movie grossed $80.5 million on Friday, making it the second-biggest single day of all time. It is second to last summer's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, which scored $91.1 million.

Box office observers believe that Avengers could still snag bragging rights for the top weekend opening of all time; Deathly Hallows Part 2 currently holds that spot, with $169.2 million.
