Billy Joel doesn't just sing about the plight of Long Island, N.Y. fishermen in his song "The Downeaster Alexa," he's also seen as an advocate for their cause, and now he's giving back directly.
After the body of a local fisherman, Edwin Flores, was found in the water of Long Island Sound beach yesterday, Billy made a donation in an unamed amount to the North Oyster Bay Baymen's Association to help Flores' family with funeral and other expenses, according to the Associated Press.
