It was a case of Blackberry Launch vs. Blackberry Launch when the AT & T’s Blackberry Bold hosted a soiree the day after Verizon’s Blackberry Storm – and both a week after T-Mobile introduced the G-1 Google phone. With the current economic slump and downsizing across the board, all of the affairs had a shocking lot to offer. I went to them all, and here’s how they rated:

Entertainment: Blackberry Storm takes this category, well, by storm. The Foo Fighters headlined with a nearly hour show, Queens of the Stone Age opened and John Mayer’s unscripted solo performance on the red carpet was an added bonus money couldn’t buy. Well, actually, it probably did.

Talent: This was no contest, the winner being Blackberry Bold. Although some celebs stayed only long enough to get their photo taken and grab a free phone before they left the way they came, many did stay for the free food and drinks, personal phone engraving and music downloads.

Something to Talk About: Blackberry Bold. Among the highlights I heard or witnessed was Hayden Panettiere hanging out with ex Stephen Colletti while Kevin Connolly plotted to go talk to the 18-year-old but said ‘I’m done’ after seeing Stephen feeding her dessert. Um, guys, isn’t she still with Milo?...Eva Longoria was on the arm of her BFF Mario Lopez but I was sitting beside her when she said, “I love you Mario, but I love my husband Tony more.” Then she and a group of her girls started chanting ‘Tony’ like they were courtside at a basketball game…Intriguing to me was Neal McDonough, the creepy guy from Desperate Housewives who plays Nicolette Sheridan’s husband. He walked by me, I looked straight into his ice blue eyes and got the chills. He was with a woman nearly a foot taller than him.

Cocktails: Blackberry Bold. I admit to liking the champagne, chambord and blackberry cocktails at the Blackberry Storm event but out of three only one actually had said blackberries. At Blackberry Bold the two signature offerings were champagne and elderflower liqueur St. Germaine’s (if you haven’t had it, I recommend trying it) and a Maker’s Mark with muddled strawberries. Both delicious.

Device: I haven’t studied any enough to make a very educated call on this one but T-Mobile G-1, their answer to the iphone but with a keyboard, is pretty cool.

Stay tuned for Halloween coverage tomorrow! Sooooo many parties, so little time!

Happy Halloween ;)
