'The Book of Morman' Broadway Writers Say 'Spider-Man' Musical "Is Horrible"

The creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, are making their Broadway debut with their new musical, The Book of Mormon. And they aren't afraid to criticize their Broadway competition.

Trey and Matt spoke out on the expensive production of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark to Entertainment Weekly saying “It’s horrible."

“I don’t think there’s any bombshell in us saying Spider-Man sucks," Trey said. "Nobody thinks it’s good.”

“Obviously, art is subjective," Matt added. "But not in that case. That’s just not good.”

Spider-Man wasn’t like a labor of love or somebody’s life story. They were making a f**ing Spider-Man musical. You don’t get cut slack when you’re Bono," Matt explained. "And by the way, nobody’s going to feel sorry for us, either.”

Rick Miramontez, spokesperson for Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark said of the South Park creators' comments, “Everyone at Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark is, as always, flattered by the attention.”

At least they acknowledged that their Book of Mormon musical, which officially opens March 24, is fair game for criticism.
