OK! has confirmed reports that the lawyers of Trope & Trope, who have been representing Britney Spears in her ongoing custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, have decided NOT to go ahead with plans to turn over the case to another legal team.

Originally, Trope & Trope had asked to be removed from the case and a hearing was scheduled for Feb. 4, at which they were to officially hand off Brit's side of the custody battle to a more willing attorney.

However, an officer for the court has confirmed to OK! that Trope withdrew their request around 4 p.m. PT this afternoon, following Britney's extremely brief visit to the courthouse.

Mark Vincent Kaplan, attorney for Kevin, tells OK! he's "pleased" Trope will remain on the case. "It will make dealing with this case easier," Kaplan explains. "They are highly skilled and highly professional. They know the case, they know the law, and they know me."
