Broadway Show Performance Canceled Due to Stagehand's Death

The show must go on, right? Last night, however, was a different story on Broadway for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. In what would have been the show's 100th performance, the stars went onstage to indicate there had been a tragedy.

According to New York City Police, the 29 year-old stagehand went into cardiac arrest before 6. p.m. After being transferred to St. Luke's Hospital, he passed away. As reported by CNN, a police spokesperson said there was "no apparent criminality" surrounding the death.

To dismiss any Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark-type rumors, the show's spokesperson, Michael Hartman, indicated the death was "not caused by an accident related to the production."

Although the audience was unclear at first as to what was happening since they didn't initially know why the show was being delayed, almost an hour after the anticipated showtime, John Larroquette and Daniel Radcliffe appeared on stage.

According to the audience member, they indicated "there'd been a tragedy, and that they wouldn't be able to go on with the show."

Another audience member added they somberly delivered the news. He added, "They spoke as if a relative had died."
