Charges Upgraded in American Idol "Glitter Girl" Hit and Run

UPDATE 4:39 PM: Police in Seaside Heights, N.J. have upgraded the charges involved in the apparent hit-and-run death of American Idol auditionee, Alexis Cohen, aka "Glitter Girl": Daniel J. Bark, the man arrested for allegedly hitting Alexis with his car, is now being charged with First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter, according to a statement from the county prosecutor's office.

Alexis Cohen, who enjoyed a brief moment of fame in 2008 following her failed attempt to audition for American Idol's seventh season, was found dead on Sunday in the beach town of Seaside Heights, NJ, the apparent victim of a hit and run.

The body of the 25-year-old, known to Idol fans as "Glitter Girl" for her shimmery makeup, was discovered by two pedestrians, less than a mile from where her parked car was located. According to police, Alexis suffered head, chest and abdominal injuries as a result of being hit by a moving vehicle.

According to TMZ.com, a man named Daniel Bark has since been arrested and booked on charges of death by reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
