'Dallas' Comeback was Solid With Viewers — Pulled in 6.9 Million

Looks like audiences haven't tired of J.R. Ewing and his tumultuous family!

OK! NEWS: DALLAS PREMIERE PREVIEW: THE REBOOTED SERIES STARS PATRICK DUFFY, LARRY HAGMAN AND LINDA GRAY

TNT rebooted the famed Dallas soap opera last night, and hordes of people tuned in for the retooled series, reported The New York Times. Over 6 million people parked in front of their TVs to watch it Wednesday night, making the soap the most-watched scripted cable premiere this year. Impressive.

That being said, Dallas (which ran on CBS from 1978-'91) was, not surprisingly, most popular with the 50-and-older set. The program only managed to net about 2 million viewers in the 18-49 age group (the bracket advertisers deem most valuable) despite a new generation being added to the cast with Jesse Metcalfe and Josh Henderson.

Older viewers were no doubt interested in seeing original cast members Patrick Duffy, Larry Hagman and Linda Gray.
