While David Letterman was interviewing Howard Stern last night, viewers were probably paying more attention to the foul-mouthed radio host's Regis Philbin retirement talk and Jay Leno disses then to a statement Dave made which has everyone buzzing — he is retiring in 2013?

Howard flipped the question right around, asking Dave the same thing.

“I don’t know. Maybe two years, I think,” the Late Show host responded.

So will Dave being following Regis?

Letterman’s camp addressed the issue with Newsday, downplaying the comment the comic host made, but not denying it.

"Dave and Howard are very rare entities in show business in that most people are asked to leave the stage. These guys have complete control over their own exits," Rob Burnett, president of Dave’s production company Worldwide Pants, said continuing to downplay the remark. "Dave has mused on air about retiring lots of times. Whenever the day comes that he actually chooses to announce his departure, I don’t think that announcement will be ambiguous.”
