Actor Michael Douglas was recently diagnosed with throat cancer, but Dr. Mehmet Oz claims that the Traffic star has a good chance for recovery if he stays positive.
“Well the important thing for Mr. Douglas is that mental therapy helps,” Dr. Oz told reporters at the Stand Up 2 Cancer benefit in L.A., “It keeps you healthy when you’re going through the first or second rounds of chemotherapy and radiation.”

Coming out to support the search for a cure, stars like Donald Faison also had kind words of encouragement for the 65-year-old, who he says has been a big inspiration in the Scrubs actor’s life.
“I want to wish him the best of luck with everything. I’ve never met him but he’s been such a big inspiration in the state of my career as an actor,” Donald gushed.

Even Goodfellas actor Ray Liotta didn’t forget to send out a message to the ailing father of three.
“For him as much as for anybody else who is suffering through cancer” Ray hopes that Michael has good doctors, “helping him and he gets it, but there are millions of millions of people with Michael Douglas who are suffering as well.”
