The duo's first stop was De Montfort University in Leicester, England, reports E! News, where they enjoyed some cultural dancing. They also took in a student fashion show — we wonder if it brought back any memories for the Duchess? It's been said that Prince William first took notice of Kate when she walked in a charity fashion show while they were both students at St. Andrews University back in 2002.

When the ladies arrived at Leicester Cathedral for a reception, they were greeted by about 5,000 fans, who lined the streets hoping to see the royal family in person. Excitement overtook the crowd, and they apparently burst into the national anthem, not once, but twice! We would say that qualifies as a royal welcome, wouldn't you?

For the festivites, Duchess Kate rocked a teal peplum skirt suit by L.K. Bennett and a James Lock hat. We loved her look, but we're also really digging the Queen's pink-and-black Angela Kelly hat. Later tonight, the Queen will receive a gift from the city.
