It ain’t easy to find love in New York City, so when I learned that Matt Titus, one of the Big Apple’s premier dating coaches, was getting his own show Matched in Manhattan -- premiering tonight on Lifetime -- I had to put in a call. “I’m a guy who’s learned from past mistakes, mainly my past marriage,” says Matt. “I made a vow to help all women, revealing secrets to the boys’ club and sort of becoming a traitor to my gender, to guide women on being successful daters by letting them in on exactly what men want and how they behave.”

Matt does it all by revealing to women where New York City’s most eligible men congregate (supermarkets and Bryant Park, mere steps away from my office!), making their apartments more man-friendly and helping them reveal their inner goddesses. “I’ll go to any extreme to make things right, from riding a subway car to teach women how to read men during their morning commute to memory mapping to reorient their minds from a bad relationship,” he says.

Matt even has advice for single celebs Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston, who have had it rough on the dating scene. “I think Jessica definitely jumps in too fast and becomes the person that she’s with,” he theorizes. “She even sort of dresses like them. She went through that grunge phase with John Mayer. And Jennifer, it’s just a matter of time for her. She’s doing it right, and I think she should try dating outside of the movie industry.”

Matt’s biggest advice for women searching for love? “Make a guy wait," he says unapologetically. "Let him fall in love with your personality before he’s in love with your body. The tie that binds a man to a woman is her mind, not her body.”

Great, I can skip the gym tomorrow!

Matched in Manhattan premieres Friday, Jan. 4 at 9:30 p.m. on Lifetime.
