Etta James Dies at 73

Etta James has died at the age of 73, confirms her longtime manager, Lupe De Leon, reports CNN.

The singing legend, famous for songs like "Something's Got a Hold on Me" and of course, "At Last," has died of leukemia.

"This is a tremendous loss for the family, her friends and fans around the world," Lupe said. "She was a true original who could sing it all — her music defied category. I worked with Etta for over 30 years. She was my friend and I will miss her always."

Etta had stepped back from the music business after being hospitalized in January 2010 for many ailments including a blood infection. And then in May 2011, she was again hospitalized for multiple infections.

Etta was a powerhouse in the music industry and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

Her last album, The Dreamer, was released on November 8. But just a month later, it was revealed that she had a terminal leukemia, as well as dementia and Hepatits C. 

Etta will be missed.
