I’m amid Oscar madness so have just a few short minutes to post a blog before I have to head to the SLS Hotel for Ryan Cabrera’s soundcheck – he’s performing an acoustic set at an annual intimate dinner party Richard Desmond, the owner of OK!, is hosting there tonight.

But, before too much time had past I wanted to blog about an event I went to Wednesday night, a few hours after I landed back in LA from NYC, that I managed to make it to because it was for a good cause. Well, ok, mostly for Ben Affleck, who supports the good cause – “The Children’s Mending Hearts Benefit Honoring International Medical Corps for their Dedication in Supporting the Women and Children Victimized by War in the Democratic Republic of the Congo sponsored by Wonderwall.com.” Um, how’s that for the title of an event??

The event, at The House of Blues, began with a cocktail where celebs twittered on wonderwall.com about why they were there. Some of the twitters were:

I am here in support of the International Medical Corps whose work I saw save lives in eastern Congo. - Ben Affleck

I'm here in support of the IMC -- their work is brave and comprehensive. -Jennifer Garner

(Hmm, she dashed in quietly just before her hubby took the stage and snuck out just as rapidly after she gave him a kiss when he was done, so I think she was there more to support Ben, but whatever works).

I'm here because we're all in this together and this is a beautiful way to raise awareness for the problems in Darfur. -Marisa Tomei

I'm here because the Congo is the most dangerous place in the world for women and girls to be. - Emmanuelle Chriqui

And on and on and on. You can check out the rest from stars like Sheryl Crow, Alyssa Milano and Andie MacDowell at wonderwall.com

Post cocktailing and twittering speeches began as a dinner of quesadillas and sliders were served to a seated crowd.

Ben Affleck was referenced as “Sexiest Man Alive 2002’ in the introduction to his speech that he began with, "Did you have to put a date on the Sexiest Man Alive award?" After a few laughs Ben got serious and Jen Garner glowed in the wings as she watched Ben sail effortlessly through a six-minute speech peppered with $5 words. When he was done he rejoined his wife, who gave him a kiss on the cheek before leaving just as quickly and quietly as she arrived. A friend told OK! "Jen just came to watch Ben's speech and show her support, then she went back home to the kids. They don't like to leave the kids home without them."

Anderson Cooper followed, as did a silent auction, where Anderson Cooper generously bought the first lot, then native Congolese music before a finale performance by Sheryl Crow.

Ok, I’d expand by I’ve really gotta go. Back with Oscar party updates later ;) xo
