Today, rapper Foxy Brown was released from Rikers Island after serving eight months in the New York rpsion. She had been originally sentenced to one-year sentence for assualting two nail salon stylists.
The rapper, 29, was sentenced to three years probation in 2006, but when the judge found she wasn't taking it seriously he sent her to prison. Even behind bars, Foxy managed to find trouble. In October she served 76 days in isolation after getting into a scuffle with another inmate and refusing a drug test.
Earlier this year in January, Foxy Brown asked to be released early after getting an ear infection. She wanted to treat the infection because she was afraid she'd lose her hearing.
"Yes, I've made some bad choices and stupid mistakes," Foxy wrote in a letter to Judge Melissa Jackson. "But please understand that sitting in a prison with murderers and criminals is not rehabilitating or what I need to deal with my inner issues."
