Gary Dourdan Investigates His TV Future

Hard to believe it, but CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is

already in its eighth season, a tremendous feat in the fickle landscape of

scripted television these days. So how long will CBS keep it on the air? That’s

still unknown, but star Gary Dourdan jokes to OK! that the cast sees themselves

doing it for a long time.

“We talk about how we’ll have canes and when we try to kneel

down for evidence we can’t get up again, bones creaking,” he tells OK!.

Getting serious, Gary

reveals everyone’s contracts expire at season’s end, so “we’re all trying to

figure out what is going to happen next."

As for what’s going to happen next to his character, the 40-year-old says

expect a Warrick-centric episode soon. For a procedural, it’s new territory for

Gary to delve

into another aspect of Warrick’s life.

“Warrick goes up against a faction of an organized crime family that is running

a strip club in Vegas and he’s putting himself out there pretty hardcore

because he is trying to put away a lot of personal drama in his life,” he

dishes. “It is really a character study.”

But the most interesting facets of the CBS hit remains their incredibly gory

and realistic props, by which “we’re constantly upstaged!”

“We have some talented makeup people!” Gary says. “Every now and then, we’re sitting

in the autopsy rooms and it looks real. Then we have the jokes, actors walking

around set in various stages of death — axe in their head, coming to the craft

service table.”
