Gavin DeGraw Gets Sent Home on 'Dancing With the Stars'

The disco ball trophy is no longer a possibility for Gavin DeGraw. Last night the singer was sent packing on Dancing With the Stars after receiving an all-time low score of 19 points on Monday night with his partner, Karina Smirnoff.

The elimination wasn't a no-brainer since it was determined by a dancing duel for the very first time in the show's history! Essentially, the bottom two dancers performed for the judges and then they figured out which couple to save. As for the celeb who was ultimately given the save? Jaleel White.

Technically this is similar to the judges' save on American Idol and serves to keep some of the stronger dancers from being eliminated too early on. 

Although he will no longer light up the dance floor with his moves, Gavin thanked everyone for the experience. "It's been amazing, just being part of the show."

Later, he followed up on Twitter. Gavin wrote, "To my friends at DWTS. Love you guys and I had the BEST time!!!! Go get em! Free tickets for you ALL to my shows this summer! Love Gavin"
