The futures of Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien are becoming increasingly unclear as conflicting stories circulate about their potential late night reshuffle, with one scenario emerging in which Jay returns to late night leaving Conan to decide the length of his rival's show. Confused? We don't blame you.

Although NBC has announced The Jay Leno Show is here to stay, other reports insist The Chin will return to his old 11.30pm time period, in which case Conan will have the power to decide what time slot he'd like, reports TMZ.

Executives have reportedly told Conan they'll let him decide if he wants the midnight to 1am slot. If he does, Jay's show will be half an hour, but if Conan leaves the gray-haired comedian will get the full hour.

Sources tell TMZ that Conan, currently helming The Tonight Show, is undecided about his professional future, but he is considering the offer.

However, if the red-headed beanpole is approached by another network, NBC will let him go and give Jay the full hour.
