Kanye West is back in the studio gearing up for his next album. The rapper has positive hopes for his career in 2010. "First of all, I want to thank everybody for their constant love and support over these past six years! I'm so happy to be back in the studio making new music," Kanye wrote to fans on his official blog. "I will bring you the best I have to offer with the same dedication that Kobe has on the court."

Kanye, who writes his blog entries in all caps, continued about the importance of rappers roles as poets.

"It's funny how so many rappers get worse as their careers stretch out but true poets get better," he said.

The often self-centered rapper presumably views himself as a true poet, not just a musical artist.

"We will follow in the footsteps of Maya Angelou, Gill Scott Herron and Nina Simone," Kanye said. "Their work improved with time. They documented what was happening in culture."

Kanye's lyrics have made an impact with his debut album, College Dropout, named  No. 1 of the decade by Entertainment Weekly.

Kanye feels the responsibility of modern day artists is "to accurately represent what is happening now, so when the powers that be try to rewrite history you can always look at our works and find truth and sincerity in a world of processed information."

He continues is lengthy, lecture-esque blog post talking about the need to rise above and avoid conformist ways of thought.

"Let us soak in positive forces and look down up on those who masquerade as truth tellers and objective fact givers when in reality everything that is projected has an agenda of brainwashing us, the "consumer," the public, to believe what they want us to," Kanye said.

He ends urging his followers to embrace the new decade with an open mind.

"Let us look past the headlines and deal with just a bit of reality in this new decade, we have our own outlets now. We don't have to believe everything anymore."

"Now, I'll figure out a way to make that all rhyme. LOL!!!"
