Lil Wayne is not headed to the slammer just yet — his year long prison sentence for gun charges has been delayed again. The Grammy-winning rapper has at least one more day as a free man, due to a courthouse fire that broke out this morning in the NYC courthouse where Wayne's sentencing was to take place.

Hundreds of people were evacuated from the courthouse due to a smoky basement fire.

Wayne's lawyer, Stacey Richman, told MTV News that the hearing has been postponed and will not take place at any point today. A new date has not been released at this time.

Wayne pleaded guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon.

Courts spokesman David Bookstaver said the fire was apparently started in a wooden contractor's shed, causing the evacuation around 10:30 a.m. after the building filled with smoke, according to The Associated Press.

The fire resulted in the injuries of  five firefighters, two civilians and one prisoner.

It took fire crews over an hour to get the fire under control, MTV News reports.

This is not the first time Wayne's sentencing has been delayed. In February, the rapper's sentencing was pushed back for dental work.

Recently, Wayne, 27, has been busy in the studio, working to complete a number of videos and songs so will remain current and maintain his voice during his absence from the music scene.

The F is for family, friends, and fans..........thank u...........your love and prayers are felt. They kant lok up my heart bekuz y'all already have it on lok. ......thank u," Wayne Tweeted to fans yesterday.
