Remember that whole DUI incident, resulting in an anti-Semitic tirade from Mel Gibson? So do we. But in the eyes of the law, that misdemeanor basically never happened, as a Malibu judge signed documents expunging the DUI from the actor's record, TMZ reports.

Judge Lawrence Mira signed the petition, which requested that "the plea, verdict or finding of guilt in the above action be set aside and vacated, and a plea of not guilty be entered, and that the complaint be, and is hereby, dismissed."

The conviction still holds for "gun control purposes," as well as in the event that Mel be arrested for a DUI in the future.

Mel's lawyer, Blair Berk, requested the motion to dismiss on September 21 after Mel had finished three years probation.
