Monk Moves to NBC

Monk is stepping outside of its comfort zone to make its NBC primetime debut on Sunday night.

“We’re airing repeats of the show and it’s so flattering that the network would embrace us,” says Tony Shalhoub, who plays the obsessive-compulsive detective. “There is a surprisingly large amount of people who don’t have cable or have just never seen us. I think it will broaden our viewership.”

For those diehard Monk fans who are jonesing for more, Tony reveals the show will be back on USA with new episodes in July. “We start taping in six weeks,” he shares. There is one plot twist he would love to see this season. “It would be really fun to bring Bitty Schram back for one or two episodes as Sharona and see how she and Natalie (Traylor Howard) interact.”
