Sad news. Singer Davy Jones of The Monkees passed away this morning at the age of 66, the medical examiner's office in Martin County, Fla., confirmed to NBC News.

Davy's rep confirms that he died of a heart attack at Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart, Fla.

Davy, who was known for hits like "Daydream Believer," "Last Train to Clarksville," and "I'm a Believer," was a huge teen idol in the 1960s, starring on the show The Monkees, with Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork and making an appearance on The Brady Bunch.
