My Party Countdown to Oscars

It’s been quite an experience being in LA Oscar Week. Thursday night I missed honoree Jonathan Rhys Myers, but saw Oscar-nominated presenter Kate Winslet at the Oscar Wilde: Irish in Film Awards, but more on my inspiring and slightly depressing impressions from there later.

Afterwards I hit a Global Green pre-Oscar event at Avalon Hollywood where Kevin Connolly was explaining a fake cigarette he was smoking (being promoted by the save the planet event)  and saw Sheryl Crow play for the second consecutive day. Next stop was a masquerade party at Guys where I saw Paris Hilton, again, and a recently single Hayden Panettiere out with the girls.

Friday my boss, Richard Desmond, the owner of all of the OK!’s worldwide, hosted a dinner party at the SLS Hotel where I was thrilled Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson stopped by and was amazing and Ryan Cabrera performed and was fantastic.

When Taraji arrived she went straight to the door where appetizers were coming out of the kitchen. When I asked her if she’s doing any kind of cleanse or detox pre-Oscars, after a bite of a ham and cheese croquette she said, “Not a damn one. I eat whatever I want, whenever I want.” We then took photos with my colleague Wynter and  putting me, the pasty blond in the middle, Taraji exclaimed “The three of us are like an Orea cookie, we make a tasty sweet treat.”

Post dinner I stopped by a party where I saw Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale a few feet from me and just missed Jen Aniston. The party wound down at 1am, at which point I should have called it a night – but instead I went to an after party that turned out to be Paris Hilton’s post birthday party. The party was Paris and Nicky Hilton and the boys that love them – including Jermaine Dupri who was snapping photos and Snoop Dogg, who had the undivided attention of Paris Hilton. I got home at nearly 4am. Unnecessary.

Saturday I was more or less useless and only made it by “The Oscar Experience” at The Peninsula Hotel where Jon Patrick from the Patrick Melville Salon cut my hair and no amount of double espressos from the Café Bustelo bar  helped wake me up. I couldn’t even stay alert long enough to hang around for a rejuvenating facial from  acupuncturist Juhi Singh, a personal favorite of mine. I haven’t tried the facial yet, that Juhi says a natural alternative to botox and other chemical treatments, but I met her before the Grammy’s, when I had a horrific spider bite on my foot, and through her acupuncture magic she managed to reduce the swelling enough for my foot to fit into stilettos! I got a raincheck to visit her for a facial next time I’m in NYC. If you’re in NYC, her methods are magic.

Ok, off to primp prior to popping over to the Mercedes Benz Oscar Party at the Montage Hotel and then the Element Electronics Oscar Party at Asia de Cuba in the Mondrian Hotel. Ultimately I hope to end up at Prince’s Party at Bardot – or even better, Madonna’s party at Guy Oseary’s. Always nice to aim high ;) Xo
