NEWSNASCAR Driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. & Family Hospitalized After Fiery Plane Crash

Former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his family were involved in a fiery plane crash on Thursday, August 15. The 44-year-old, his wife Amy and daughter Isla Rose survived the private plane crash in Tennessee.
The three were taken to a hospital where they were evaluated for injuries. Their jet cruised off the end of a runway and eventually caught fire after landing at Elizabethton Municipal Airport.
"I can confirm Dale, Amy & Isla along with his two pilots were involved in a crash in Bristol TN this afternoon," Dale's sister, Kelley Earnhardt, tweeted. "Everyone is safe and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation. We have no further information at this time. Thank you for your understanding."
"Based on initial reports, everyone made it out alive," Thomas Gray, a spokesperson for the Carter County Sheriff's Department said.
The NBC NASCAR analyst suffered from a few cuts and abrasions. The family dog was also on board their Cessna Citation jet.
The National Transportation Safety Board is expected to investigate and look into the crash.
Dale is the son of NASCAR Hall of Fame member Dale Earnhardt Sr., who died of injuries sustained from a race car crash during the Daytona 500 in 2011.
