Their marital status has been shrouded in mystery since they first started dating in 2006, but Nicole Richie has put the rumors to rest: She and Joel Madden are engaged.
The 28-year-old made the admission during the Monday taping of the Late Show with David Letterman, announcing that after two children together she'll walk down the aisle with her rocker beau, reports E! Online.
Joel confirmed the good news over Twitter on Monday night: "Yep. i'm engaged. Very happy. Yeah we've been engaged for a while so your all kind of late on that. But Thanks for the hooplah all the same."
He added: "P.s. thats why i love my family and friends. None of them are sources. All good tight lipped people who let us enjoy it! Thanks everybody"
