Bo Bice may have come in second on season four of American Idol, but that hasn't stopped him from launching a successful southern rock music career. He recently released his latest effort, See the Light, and this summer he'll find himself back at summer camp. He'll be spending a few days at the Idol summer camp (runs June-August) counseling kids on the ins and outs of being a musician. OK! spoke with the rocker about the camp and being a dad.

How did you get involved with camp?

You know I believe it was one of the folks from Idol had reached out and asked if I wanted to be a part of it. I jumped at the chance to be able to go there and be an instructor. It's a special way to be able to give back.

Do you know what you'll be teaching?

I don't. I imagine I'll have something to do with guitar. I'd like to teach kids how to write songs. This will be my first year so I'm just as green as some of the rest of the folks. It's like a music camp and I get to hang out with some of the past contestants.

What advice do you have for the current season of contestants?

Just practice hard and stay grounded. Treat people like you want to be treated and work hard.

How do you balance being a dad, husband and working musician?

It's pretty easy for me because I have a wonderful wife. We put God first and it takes a lot of hard work. I would be lying if we didn't have to juggle a lot of things. I do my best to be a good dad and husband when I'm at home. I love my job and it's almost like having an extended family out here.

What else would you like to do musically in your career?

I'd like to expand on doing what I love and venture out a bit more. I would like to play consistantly good music. Eventually someday I would like to open up a school and teach kids about music. Before Idol that's what I did for a living. This camp is a way for me to get back into it.
