Oprah Winfrey, we thought we knew you! First she announces her retirement from the talk show world, and now it emerges her company Harpo Films has teamed with HBO to create a sexually-charged hour-long series pilot.
The plot centers on a woman who leaves her seemingly perfect marriage and children in Santa Monica for the underbelly of L.A., where she indulges her secret fantasies, reports Variety.
The pilot is being written by Erin Cressida Wilson, who penned the controversial 2002 indie flick, Secretary, starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader, a movie about an S&M relationship between a boss and his secretary.
"It is unsentimental and pretty shocking, and there is something complicated and destructive driving her," says Harpo Films president Kate Forte of the show's protagonist.
"It is literally a day at the pool, where she gets up, in sarong and flip-flops, and walks out of her life, leaving everyone behind so abruptly that her husband and kids initially think she's been kidnapped or murdered."
