Paris Hilton Reveals She 'Went Through Multiple Abusive Relationships': 'I Was Strangled, I Was Hit'

Honesty hour. Paris Hilton revealed she “went through multiple abusive relationships” over the years. “I was strangled, I was hit, I was grabbed aggressively. I put up with things no one should,” the 39-year-old told PEOPLE. 

The blonde beauty goes into detail about the emotional and physical abuse she endured at the Provo Canyon boarding school in Utah in her upcoming documentary, This Is Paris, which will premiere on her YouTube channel on September 14. “I had become so used to abusive behavior at Provo, that it made me feel like it was normal,” she explained.

Over the years, Hilton admitted that five of her ex-boyfriends abused her in the same way. “They all seemed like such nice guys and then the true colors would show,” she said. “They’d get jealous, or defensive or try to control me. And then there would come a point where they would become physically, verbally and emotionally abusive.” 

“I didn’t really understand what love or relationships were,” she continued. “I thought that them getting so crazy meant that they were in love with me. Looking back, I can’t believe I let people treat me like that.”

The socialite made it clear that if she hadn’t been put through the ringer, she would have never participated in the infamous sex tape with then-boyfriend Rick Salomon, which leaked in 2003. “I met the worst person I could meet and if I hadn’t gone to Provo, I wouldn’t have entertained the thought of letting him into my life,” she dished. “Looking back, I can’t believe I let people treat me like that.” 

In 2018, the DJ — who has been engaged three times — called it quits with Chris Zylka. "When I fall in love, I fall in love fast and hard, and it was this whirlwind romance," she said on The Talk. "I've always been obsessed with Disney stories and love stories, and I thought it was gonna be my happy ending, and I just realized after time that it wasn't the right decision."

Luckily, everything worked out for Hilton since she is in a healthy relationship with Carter Reum, 39. “I feel so safe with him,” she gushed. “Before, I don’t think I was really ready for a good relationship. But I’ve learned so much. And I’m so grateful to have found my perfect match.”
