Katy Perry has no regrets when it comes to her admission this week that she felt fat because she wasn’t wearing Spanx.
“Um, I don’t care because I’m OK with myself,” she says Friday during the Billboard Women In Music Awards luncheon sponsored by Nikon at NYC’s Capitale. “I think every woman does stuff like that anyways, all the time. I think one of my favorite moments is seeing like a hot girl dancing in a club, and then accidentally seeing her Spanx.”

Being relatable is Katy’s ultimate goal. In fact, her parents Keith and Mary Hudson look on as she collects her Woman of the Year award.
“People don’t want to look up — they want to look across at someone,” she says, motioning. “They want to feel like ‘hey, that’s my girl. I relate to your song. Maybe I felt something like that, but I didn’t have the words to capture that moment like the Katy Perry song.’”
Today’s Natalie Morales is charmed by her likeability.
“Katy is awesome,” Natalie tells me. “I love her. I would love to have her as a girlfriend. She seems like that fun girl that you want to hang out with all day long, who is normal but a superstar at the same time.”

Still, Katy has her priorities. After she collects her prize, she tells me she can’t wait to see Cher Lloyd perform her smash hit Want U Back.
One performer who clamors to meet Katy during the event is Call Me Maybe singer Carly Rae Jepsen, who is honored with the Rising Star award.
Carly admits the Spice Girls were a major influence when she was growing up.
“I remember falling in love with Spice Girls, and having a living room dance-off,” she says.
Her favorite?
“Geri Halliwell,” she admits. “I always thought she was the businesswoman of the group.”
