According to a report in London's Daily Star newspaper, even though Madonna and hubby Guy Ritchie are putting up a brave front, publicly denying that their marriage is on the rocks, they may have already begun to split up the marital property in preparation for a divorce.

One of the first places to be divvied up, claims the report, will be the couple's 1,200-acre country estate in Wiltshire, UK, which Madge purchased in 2001. According to the paper's source, the secluded property, reported to be worth as much as $25 million, has already been essentially split.

“He loves the property and it’s very much his retreat,” claims the Daily Star's source. “He spends the weekends there while Madonna stays up in town.”

Insiders tell OK! that Madonna and her film-director husband don't have a prenuptial agreeement in place, but that such precautions are often not taken in England as the courts are not obliged to abide by them.

"In London, it's based on what a judge thinks is fair," explains divorce attorney Joshua Forman. "They'll probably have a negotiated settlement that never goes to court so their dirty laundry isn't aired to the public."

As reported last week in the pages of OK!, Madonna has been linked to baseball superstar Alex Rodriguez, and their friendship is expected to play a key role in the impending divorce proceedings between Alex and estranged wife Cynthia Rodriguez.
