Robert Pattinson Hangs Out With Olympic Gold Medal Winners the Fierce Five Backstage at VMAs

Robert Pattinson may still dealing with the breakup with his longtime girlfriend Kristen Stewart, but he was all smiles last night at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Rob was there to present the new trailer for the final film in the Twilight franchise, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, and afterward he was seen hanging out backstage with McKayla Maroney, 16, Kyla Ross, 15, Gabby Douglas, 16, Jordyn Wieber, 17, and Aly Raisman, 18 — better known as the Fierce Five, who won multiple gold medals in women's gymnastics at the 2012 Olympics.

And the girls could not have been more excited — especially Gabby, since Rob is her celeb crush. She told Entertainment Tonight, "I'm a big Twilight fan. I read the book, like, five times. I mean, yeah, Rob's pretty cute. He's definitely my crush in Twilight."

Meanwhile, Kristen, who was supposed to attend with Rob, pulled out of the event to avoid any awkwardness. Instead, she went to the Toronto International Film Festival to promote On the Road, which opens in limited release on Dec. 21.
