Rob plays Georges Duroy, a young man who rises to power in Paris by sleeping with wealthy and influential women. Speaking at a press conference today for the film, Rob revealed that he related to his character's motivations when he first read the script.

"I read the script a long time ago. I was pretty young. I think I've changed a little bit," R-Pattz said (via MTV News). "I kind of understood that. You create an empire just so you can sh** on someone else. I think I've grown up a little bit. I'm not as horrible."

Rob's relationship with his Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart is probably the reason for that!

Still, Rob said he decided to take the role because it would be fun to play that character.

"It's funny, the structure of Bel Ami and the character of Georges really rarely comes up in movies anymore because he's completely unrepentant, and normally a movie has to teach somebody a lesson nowadays. It was quite fun playing that," he said. "They both have their good sides."

Well, after playing the "no sex before marriage" Edward Cullen in Twilight, we can somewhat understand why Rob would want a change.

We only wish Kristen was also starring in Bel Ami!
