Roman Polanski Wants His Record Cleared

30 years after he was charged with having sex with a teenage girl, Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski wants the case dismissed.

Polanski filed a request to have the child-sex charge against him tossed out, according to the AP. His lawyers claim a documentary about the director that was released this year revealed "misconduct and improper communications" between the judge and prosecutors in the case.

Polanski, whose wife Sharon Tate was brutally murdered by the Charlie Manson family in 1969, fled the country in 1978 and has been living in Europe ever since.

He won an Academy Award in 2002 for directing The Pianist, but skipped the ceremony for fear of being arrested.
