Season Six Reject Makes It Onto Opry

During last year's American Idol contest, Randy Jackson said Finalist Phil Stacey was destined to have a great career in country music. Now he has been proved right, after Phil announced that he is going to perform on the Grand Ole Opry.

Phil, 30, who finished sixth in American Idol last year, will play on the most legendary stage in country music on Saturday for the first time.

The singer from Jacksonville, FL, is going to perform his single, If You Didn't Love Me, which entered the Billboard Top 35 this week, as well as debuting some material from his new album, Phil Stacey.

The album, released on April 29th, features songs written by Wayne Kirkpatrick, a songwriter whose material has been recorded by Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Joe Cocker, Bonnie Raitt and Eric Clapton, whose version of Kirkpatrick's Change the World won a Grammy award for Song of The Year.

Phil, who missed the birth of his second daughter to audition for Idol, is set to play on both the 6.30pm and 9.30pm broadcasts of the WSM radio show which has hosted every single legend of country music since it began in 1925.
