A rare beauty! Selena Gomez took to Instagram on Thursday, September 24, to flaunt her kidney transplant scar — three years post-surgery

"When I got my kidney transplant, I remember it being very difficult at first showing my scar," the 28-year-old captioned a photo of herself in a blue bathing suit by a pool. "I didn’t want to be in photos, so I wore things that would cover it up. Now, more than ever, I feel confident in who I am and what I went through … and I’m proud of that."

"T — congratulations on what you’re doing for women, launching @lamariette whose message is just that … all bodies are beautiful," she said, referring to her bestie Theresa Marie Mingus, who is the co-founder of La’Mariette — a bathing suit line.

Mingus couldn’t help but fawn over the 'Dance Again' songstress. "OMG I love you," she wrote in the comments section. Jersey Shore star Jenni "JWOWW" Farley added, "You are so incredible," while Gomez's roomie Raquelle Stevens added some heart emojis to the post.

The brunette beauty revealed in October 2017 that she received a kidney from her friend Francia Raisa in July of that same year. "So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health," the Spring Breakers star said. "I honestly look forward to sharing with you soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you."

The Disney alum later got candid about how Raisa generously donated her organ to her. "I didn’t ask a single person in my life and that was the day, when I came home, I found out she volunteered and did it," Gomez told the TODAY show.

Later on, Raisa admitted that the Hollywood starlet had a "complication" after the operation. "A few hours after our surgery, I woke up and had a text from her that said, 'I’m really scared.' My kidney was very active, and when it turned I broke an artery," The Secret Life of the American Teenager told W magazine in 2018. "They had to take her into emergency surgery and get a vein from her leg and build a new artery to keep my kidney in place. She could have died."

These days, the HBO Max star seems to be doing great. From filming her show Selena + Chef to launching her new makeup line, Gomez is living her best life.
