Though he's come to be known as one of the most notorious serial killers in US history, Gary Ridgway appeared to be a happy and normal man — at least in his early life.

As OKMagazine.com readers know, the troubled murderer pled guilty to 48 charges of aggravated first-degree murder in 2003. He later admitted in an interview that he killed at least 71 women — though investigators claimed he killed at least 90, but lost count.

After his crimes, Ridgeway became known as "The Green River Killer," as he dumped his victim's corpses in the water after raping them repeatedly.

While Ridgeway was married and led a seemingly normal adult life, REELZ' Murder Made Me Famous: The Green River Killer docuseries now seeks to uncover the truth behind his odd childhood, and the bizarre demons that turned him into an unstoppable killer.

"Gary Ridgway did not seem to find the kind of family that would produce a man with so much anger, and so much hate, and a drive to kill. It just didn't seem to fit," Former KING-TV Reporter, Linda Byron, says in the show teaser.

"He came from a very middle-class family. There was nothing really that remarkable about him," Prosecutor Green River Killer Case, Patty Eakes, adds in the clip.

According to the chilling docuseries, Ridgeway's troubles began at an early age, when as a boy he found himself sexually attracted to his mother.

Murder Made Me Famous: The Green River Killer airs Saturday, April 14 at 8:00 ET/ PT on REELZ.
