But now Simon is setting the record straight, admitting marriage has taken a back seat to his career. "I'm not going to lie — everything this year has been about working on The X Factor," Simon tells Star exclusively. "It has been the busiest year I've ever had."

And while Simon, 52, is infamous for his harsh words on the small screen, he is rather reticent when it comes to his love life. "I'm embarrassed to talk about that stuff," he says. "Making the choice to get married is something you have to decide when the time is right."
