When the long-running Saturday Night Live returns to screens on October 3, it will mark a historic moment for the show. For the first time in more than a decade of the production's history, it will start the new season with its entire original cast returning.

In previous seasons, the show added new cast members while saying goodbye to other favorites. The show will also be returning to its original filming location of Rockefeller Center studio since the global COVID-19 pandemic started.

Other shows are also making their way back to their original filming studios, with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers already back in New York City.

The last time that Saturday Night Live opted not to change any cast members happened back in 2007, although Maya Rudolph left the show only four episodes into Season 33 and was replaced by Casey Wilson. It was during this time that a writer strike gripped large parts of Hollywood productions, forcing some shows to plan around the actions.

Thompson is also prepping to have his name written in record books, as he will be returning for his 18th season, which is more seasons than any other cast member.
