The Spice Girls Reunite to Perform at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London

It’s a dream come true for Spice Girls fans. The band, which broke up in 2001, will be reuniting to perform two songs at the closing ceremony at the Summer Olympics in London on August 12, and while it was unclear whether or not Victoria Beckham, aka Posh, would be joining them, it's being reporting she’s on board.

A source told the Daily Mail that the other girls persuaded Beckham to join them.

"This is a serious proposition," claimed an insider. "Mel B has been bombarding Victoria with calls — she's the sticking point. All the other girls want to do it. Victoria is extremely reluctant."

And it looks like they were successful in their persistent attempts.

"Victoria is in London until the end of the Games and David's exclusion from the football team means she has time to reunite with the Spice Girls," a source told The Mirror.

A few weeks ago, the former group came together for the first time since their 2008 reunion tour to announce a new West End musical, which is based on their biggest hits and titled

"I loved what the Spice Girls did for women's confidence," producer Judy Craymer said during a press conference. "There's something very empowering about them."

The British girl group will join a lineup of exclusively U.K. acts at the Olympics, including George Michael, The Who, Take That, Emeli Sande and Jessie J.
