Marvel Comics Legend Stan Lee Dies At 95
Stan Lee, the creator of many of the world's most prominent superheroes from Marvel Comics has died at the age of 95. He passed away early Monday morning, November 12 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA.
Stan started in the comic book business in 1939 and has been writing and creating for eight decades. The New Yorker was known for creating characters like Spider-Man, X-Men, Thor, Iron Man, Black Panther, and The Fantastic Four — all of which have made billions in Hollywood due to their films and subsequent television series.
The writer, editor, and publisher of Marvel was also known for his funny and quirky cameos in many of the brand's superhero films.
He was even honored as “one of America's most prolific storytellers” in 2008 by then-president George W. Bush, who awarded him the National Medal of Arts due to his famed contribution to arts and entertainment.
His last few years were a bit rocky as his wife Joan died last year and he sued his former company, POW! Entertainment for fraud.
He is survived by his daughter, Joan Celia "J. C." Lee.
