Steve Harvey is once again back as host for the Miss Universe pageant. Here’s hoping that there are no technical difficulties when it comes time to crown the winner!
It was revealed on Tuesday, July 31, that he would return as host for their 2018 edition, which will take place in Bangkok, Thailand on December 16.
Social media lit up at the end of the 2015 ceremony when Harvey infamously announced that Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo, was the winner when in fact it was really Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurzbach. It was a crucial error that he has spoken out about in the past.
“Nobody feels worse about this than me,” he once told reporters after the mix-up.
Harvey will be traveling to Thailand with the reigning Miss Universe, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peter from South Africa, who will be there to crown her successor.
“The Miss Universe competition provides women from all walks of life and all corners of the globe the opportunity to represent their countries and share their ambitions, perspectives and personal experiences on an international stage,” Nel-Peters said in a statement.
“Becoming Miss Universe changed the course of my life,” she added. “And I look forward to seeing which amazing woman will benefit next!”
Despite Steve's blunder in 2015, he still went on to host the 2016 and 2017 pageant, which took place in the Philippines and Las Vegas, respectively.
