Early Thursday morning, October 4, Suge Knight was sentenced to 28 years in fatal hit and run that happened in 2015 on the set of Straight Outta Compton.

The rap mogul faced one count of murder and one count of attempted murder after he ran over two men with his truck during a heated argument.

The incident was caught on camera and Suge appeared to reverse over one man before accelerating forward and hitting the other man. Though one victim, film consultant Cle "Bone" Sloan, survived the brazen assault, the other man, Terry Carter, later died of his injuries.

The 53-year-old previously claimed that the men had been hired by Dr. Dre to kill him. The Death Row Records co-founder insisted that he simply acted in self-defense.

His 28-year sentence was part of a plea deal reached in September, when Knight pleaded no contest to manslaughter. Originally, he had been facing life in state prison.

The trial itself was marred with controversy. Two of the California native's lawyers were even indicted for obstruction of justice and allegedly attempting to bribe witnesses.
