High school can be tough, especially if you’re Trixie Stone.

In the new Lifetime movie The Tenth Circle, based on the best-selling Jodi Picoult novel, Trixie accuses her boyfriend of rape, which throws her family into vengeful turmoil.

Our newest OK! intern, Kathryn Misata, caught up with Swingtown’s Brittany Robertson, who stars in the challenging role.

“Trixie’s new to the high school scene, and she has this boyfriend who’s really popular and ends up breaking up with her,” Brittany explains. “A lot of people discount her accusations, and she and her parents become suspects to this certain thing that happens to him.”

Brittany admits one of the hardest scenes she had to film was confronting her Dad, played by Ron Eldard, about “everything that’s happened.” She loved working with Kelly Preston, a.k.a. Mrs. John Travolta, who stars as her not-so-honest mom. She was “very down to earth and very maternal,” Brittany shares.

With a doubly whammy of intriguing plot and talented cast, Brittany hopes viewers will see that “every family has their problems and it’s nothing to be ashamed of.”

And when it comes to dealing with the pressures of high school? “I think it definitely puts the awareness out there, how tortured you can make other people feel,” Brittany says. “I hope that people can find some lightness in the fact that you should treat others as you would like to be treated.”

Especially if you’re in a Lifetime movie. It never ends well for the bad boyfriend.

The Tenth Circle airs Saturday, June 28 at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.
