Things are not looking good for Teresa Giudice. The Real Housewives of New Jersey star pled guilty to four counts of fraud in March, and an examination of her plea agreement reveals she could be staring down a whopping 35 years in prison when she’s sentenced on September 23! On top of that hefty maximum sentence, says Florida criminal lawyer and former U.S. Attorney Chris Mancini, Teresa could be on the hook for $1 million in fines. “This is a very tough plea agreement, and I think the judge is going to be hard on her,” says Mancini. “She’ll probably receive a substantial sentence.” Meanwhile, Teresa’s husband, Joe, who pled guilty to five counts of fraud, could be deported back to his native Italy.

So how has Teresa been preparing for the legal hammer that’s about to drop? By flaunting her assets on vacations to the Jersey Shore and mixing it up with her fellow Housewives, of course! “Teresa is still in denial and as arrogant as her husband,” says a source close to the RHONJ star.

“She’s been posing on the beach in a bikini, when she could be heading to prison!” While Teresa’s manager and legal coach, Wendy Feldman, says her client is “very concerned” about her situation, the source claims Teresa’s more interested in stirring up drama with her RHONJ castmates. “Instead of focusing on her own problems, she’s bad-mouthing her friend Dina Manzo,” says the source. “Teresa is jealous of Dina, and she’s been annoyed with her lately.” The bad blood will likely emerge at the RHONJ reunion show, which, the source says, Teresa believes Bravo is taping just days after her sentencing in a ratings grab.

What’s next for the Jersey girl? Mancini believes time behind bars is probable: “She’s done a lot of bad stuff. With this many years on her maximum sentence, she’s going to prison.” But will she lie low until the sentencing? It seems unlikely. As the source puts it, “If she’s truly scared, she has an interesting way of showing it.”
