The first time I met Kings star Chris Egan, I was at last summer’s TCA conference, running past him to get a quote with Lorne Michaels about a then-pregnant Amy Poehler.

If only I had known just how charming Chris was, I would have slowed down.

Luckily, I got a chance to make up for my transgression when he stopped by the OK! to talk up his new series.

“I know you,” he said when he first entered the office. (Yeah, I’ve been known to leave that kind of impression.)

A lot happened for Chris’ character David Shepherd in the Sunday night premiere, from David rescuing the King’s son from enemy lines to him macking on the king’s daughter.

So is the new series an action adventure or a love story?

“It’s about love, pride, loyalty and deceit,” Chris shared. "It’s like a Shakespeare play, a million things all in one, but it’s all the things that sort of make a great story.”

Story scoop! Romance will heat up on the show over the next few episodes.

“You can expect a lot of love stories,” Chris shared. “ And a lot of dysfunction.”

Originally from Australia, Chris spent the winter in New York City to shoot Kings.

“I couldn’t seem to get my apartment warm. I always had several pairs of long johns on,” he laughed.

“I miss surfing and just being with my brothers,” said Chris, referring back to his native country, which currently enjoying its summer season.

“It’s been six months of freezing cold here so I’m very excited to get back, have a barbecue and just be with my family.”

Aww!

Kings airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
