Every season on Dancing With the Stars there are bound to be some tumbles on the dance floor. And last night was no exception. Veteran DWTS pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy had a bit of a misstep Monday night when he almost dropped partner Kirstie Alley during their rumba. But Maks is defending his partner and taking all the blame, explaining on Good Morning America today that his "thigh just gave out" and that the tumble was in no way Kirstie's fault.

Maks wanted to further explain the fall on GMA this morning as well as the extent of his leg cramp.

"It was ... like a charley horse. You know, it just gave out," he explained.

Maks was also upset that the mishap overshadowed Kirstie's solid performance as well as the top routines of the night by Hines Ward and Petra Nemcova.

"I just want to be the background. I'm the backbone," he shared. "I want to be in the shadows and I feel like this being the most talked about moment kind of takes away from Hines and from Petra doing their phenomenal routines and even from Kirstie."

In the end, Kirstie still nabbed a decent score — three sevens from the judges for a total of 21 out of 30, her lowest score of the season, but still impressive for Week 3.

“Look at his legs and his a**,” Kirstie told reporters after her performance. “He’s got the best legs I’ve ever seen.”

And the pair used that to their advantage by turning up the sexy in their performance!

“In my head it was this, ‘What the f**k am I doing?’ and then ‘I didn’t do that step right, Maks will kill me.’ Come on, this is a fun, live, it’s like doing Saturday Night Live,” Kirstie explained of their mistake. “You know I’ve done SNL twice you get out there and start laughing and f**k up the scene and love it!”
