"He has cash, jewelry, and documents for another life — all stashed away in safety-deposit boxes around the U.S. and Europe," adds Murder Me Famous' Steve Helling.

Bulger's crimes went on for 16 years, making him the second most wanted criminal (just after Osama Bin Laden) in the FBI's chilling list.

Despite his multiple ties to law enforcement and his complex webs of corruption, Bulger continued to be a free man until investigators finally captured him in 2011. He was 81 year old at the time.

"Where's Whitey Bulger? I thought he had to be dead. He was somehow dead and he was buried under the bridges along with the other victims," recalls McClean.

Bulger and his longtime girlfriend, Catherine Greig, took on aliases and travelled the country before settling down in Santa Monica. Their new residence was only a few blocks from the beach — and four miles from the FBI office in Los Angeles!

Murder Made Me Famous: Whitey Bulger airs Saturday, May 19 at 8:00 ET/ PT on REELZ.
