Corbin Bleu and his pro dance partner Karina Smirnoff thrilled the judges with their jive set to One Direction's "Kiss You" last night, but their performance didn't always feel quite so smooth.

"I was extremely nervous," admits Corbin. "Llast week with the contemporary (dance) I knew it wasn’t going to be as structured so I’d be able to follow the storyline. With the jive, that was going to be the first time I would have to focus on my hands and all of that. I remember the first few days I was getting discouraged because our song wasn’t the traditional jive song so I was having a hard time finding that jive beat, especially when I’d never done it before."

Under Karina's tutelage, the actor says he started feeling good about the dance by day five, and that's when the pair decided to kick it old school by dedicating the performance to all of Corbin's Wildcats. His High School Musical costar Lucas Grabeel was even in the audience to cheer him on.

"We were able to find the storyline and, for me, that was the most fun part," he admits. "To be able to give a shout out to my (HSM) fans and where I came from and have a little homage to my youth."
