Do you have a dog? Have you ever hung out with a dog? Then you need to be watching Wilfred on FX.

I am constantly asking friends (and strangers) if they watch Wilfred and am met with a blank stare, a “No”, or even worse, “What’s that?”. I'll take "Oh, the one with the guy in the dog costume?" as a small victory! But that ends now. Wilfred is the best show on TV that you aren’t watching...yet. Don’t worry, I have a plan for you.

Season 3 starts tonight on FX, but don’t just jump right in. You'll miss too much good stuff. Go back to season 1, watch that completely, and then call me to discuss the ending. Move on to season 2, watch that in full and then you can watch tonight’s brand new episode On Demand and be all caught up in time for the rest of the season this summer. Yes this plan has you devoting yourself to a TV show for the next week, or at least a full weekend, but go ahead: trust me now and thank me later.

Let’s back up just a little bit. Yes this is a show about a guy who talks to a dog. Just accept it. Don’t think about it too much, it’s just the way it is. And no we don’t really know why or what Wilfred (Jason Gann) is or why Ryan (Elijah Wood) is able to speak to him, but that’s all the fun of the show. Ryan is dealing with the same issues any early 30-something is: job, dating, family (so it's relatable). Except he's got a very special dog around that is either creating and/or amplifying his problems (so it's hilarious).

Aside from Breaking Bad, this is the show I am most excited about this summer. It is dark, weird, bizarre and odd in all the best ways possible. And on top of that? It’s really funny, and really creative. This show answers the question “What if dogs could talk?” in a super smart and clever way. You know you've thought about it before, but this show dares to go there...and many other disturbing places that will leave you blushing and giggling at the same time.

OK! News: Is Breaking Bad back yet?

Full disclosure, it took me half of the first season to really get into it. I get it, it's a different concept. I just tried explaining it to my co-workers this morning and they were rightfully confused. But give it a chance. The episodes are packed with deep, emotional themes balanced by the hilarious perspective of a dog’s thoughts. A perverted, stubborn, mischievous dog. What's not to love?

Wilfred Season 3 premieres tonight on FX at 10 p.m. ET.

Are you a fan of Wilfred? Will you be checking it out tonight? What’s your favorite episode so far? Let’s discuss! Tell us in the comments below or on Twitter @OKMagazine and @LittleLeaP.
